Development that Catalyses

Enlivening the Park Lands.  Getting more people living in the City.  Making the most of larger sites in great locations.  All worthy objectives.

The Catalyst Site provisions in the Planning & Design Code are key planning tools to achieve these objectives.

Great sites like 200 East Terrace, Adelaide, don’t come along every day.  Park Lands frontage.  Easy access to Hutt Street.  An obligation to make the most of it.

The applicants, Global Intertrade and Minuzzo Project Management, believed that the site could accommodate a taller building than previously approved without unreasonable impact on existing surrounding development and achieve the objectives of the Catalyst Site provisions.  Aplin Cook Gardner Architects and URPS supported by a range of specialist design professionals were equally confident this was possible.

PLUS staff recommended approval of the proposed new development.  But SCAP was initially unconvinced.

As part of the compulsory conference process in the ERD Court, the proposal was refined to respond to SCAP comments and representations.  SCAP agreed to a 9-storey proposal.

This development helps to catalyse even more high-quality apartments in this part of the City.
