Only a few weeks ago, much of South Australia was struck by an incredible storm that brought down trees, damaged houses and cut power for days on end. Now the Riverland is besieged with record flooding. More and more extreme weather related to climate change that is becoming the new norm.
This is why URPS is so committed to projects that build the resilience of communities to cope and respond to extreme weather events.
It is also satisfying to have our important work in this area recognised by others.
“AdaptNow! Changing for Climate Change” is now a multi-award winning project recognised by:
- Planning Institute of Australia – SA Chapter.
- Resilient Australia – SA Local Government.
- Resilient Australia – National Local Government.
Adapt West includes a range of targeted resources that support the community and businesses to adapt to the impacts of climate change and extreme weather events. For more information visit https://www.adaptwest.com.au/adaptnow
A big thank you to the businesses and community members from the Western Adelaide Region who provided insight about how to build resilience in the face of inevitable weather impacts.
Equally big thanks to the Adapt West regional coordinator, the Cities of Charles Sturt/West Torrens/Port Adelaide Enfield and Living Stories for their support/involvement.
