Redevelopment of the Glenside Hospital Campus
URPS assisted the State Government to realise the Master Plan vision for the Glenside Campus by facilitating a variety of major developments applications on the site, including the Intermediate Care Facility (ICC), the New Health Facilities and the Adelaide Film and Screen Centre.
The ICC is a form of residential development allied to the Glenside Hospital. It includes short term, intensive clinical treatment and staff support for patients suffering from a mental illness. The centre provides a key step towards patients living independently.
The New Health Facilities are an integral component of the overall redevelopment of the Glenside campus. They are designed to demystify mental health care and encourage public interest in and engagement with the process of recovery. This is supported urban design techniques that integrate the New Health Facilities with surrounding development and the high degree of public permeability.
The Adelaide Film and Screen Centre involves the adaptive reuse of the magnificent, historic, Administration Building, together with an exciting array of sound stages, studios, screening rooms etc in new buildings at the rear. Core issues requiring resolution as part of these major development proposals include impacts on heritage significance, significant trees, site contamination, parking and vehicle access, stormwater management, overall environmental performance and effective integration with surrounding development
