URPS was delighted to sponsor the recent 2018 Form Innovation Awards celebrating the local design industry. As the proud voice of design and architecture in South Australia, the Form Journal is a companion to The Adelaide Review.
A range of high quality projects were nominated. Those receiving awards included the Adelaide Hills Wine Region Interactive Map by Urban + Public and Aspect Studios, as well as the St Andrew’s Hospital-Eastern Clinical Development by Wiltshire + Swain Architects.
The major winner was the Darling Building located on Franklin Street, Adelaide. Abandoned in the late 1990s, Williams Burton Leopardi Architects has transformed this State Heritage Place to become an exemplar of adaptive re-use.
Congratulations to all the winners and nominees for excellence all round.
Guest speakers at the awards ceremony included Alex Mackenzie from the Department of Planning, Transport & Infrastructure. Alex enthusiastically described how planning in South Australian is being transformed to become a nation leading system.
The Awards were held at MOD – Museum Of Discovery – within the University of SA’s Cancer Research Institute building. URPS facilitated planning approval for this inspiring building designed by Swanbury Penglase and BVN Architects, an apt home for the Form Innovation Awards.
